Cover more ground in AW24 with Dainite soles

Dainite is a renowned British brand of high-quality rubber soles. Founded in 1894 by the Harboro Rubber Company in Market Harborough, Dainite quickly gained recognition for its durable designs, particularly its Studded sole, which was first introduced in the early 20th century and remains their hero product. Over the years, Dainite expanded its range to include other distinctive soles like the Ridgeway, Medway, and Ranger.

Studded sole
In 2019, we transitioned from Dainite studded soles to our proprietary Cheaney studded soles. This felt like a natural progression for the brand, as we believed our customers would appreciate seeing the ‘Cheaney’ stamp on every part of the shoe. Moreover, the cleat pattern on the Cheaney studded soles was a better fit for our last shapes compared to the Dainite soles available at that time.
However, our valued customers expressed their preference for the familiar, proving once again that we are creatures of habit. The name Dainite in the footwear industry is synonymous with reliability, longevity, durability, and trust—all qualities we strive to be associated with our name and heritage.
Listening to our customers’ feedback, we have decided to bring back the beloved Dainite soles in our upcoming collections. For AW24, we are excited to announce a partnership with Harboro Rubber, located just a stone’s throw away from our factory in Desborough. Together with Dainite, we have developed a co-branded sole that combines the best of both brands. We are grateful to Dainite for trusting us to etch our signature onto their renowned studded soles, a rare deviation from their signature branding that they have graciously accommodated.
This marks the beginning of a strong partnership, and we are thrilled to share it with you. The new cleat pattern has been refined by their design team to address our initial concerns, ensuring a perfect fit with our Goodyear welt.

Ridgeway
The Ridgeway sole, introduced by Dainite in 1941, was designed to enhance traction and durability for outdoor footwear. It takes its name from England’s Ridgeway Trail, an ancient trading route that dates back approximately 3,500 years, and the sole’s design draws inspiration from the trail’s varied terrain.
Specifically developed with outdoor pursuits in mind, the Ridgeway sole differs from other cleated soles that were typically created for military or heavy industrial use. It features a unique pattern of thick lugs and ridge channels, providing excellent grip and stability on diverse surfaces while maintaining a lighter weight and a more refined look compared to traditional work boots.
The Ridgeway sole’s hard wearing rubber material and design make it especially effective on slippery or uneven surfaces, enhancing both comfort and performance for outdoor activities. This combination of functionality and style has ensured the Ridgeway sole’s ongoing popularity for high-quality outdoor and casual footwear.

With proper care, Cheaney shoes will give comfort, value and service over a considerable time. However, if after wear you wish to extend the life of your Cheaney shoes, we are able, because of the quality of the materials used in the original manufacturing process, to offer a sole & heel repair.
