Cheaney Hanover Balmoral Boot in Burnished Burgundy Calf Leather

Hanover is a superbly designed and attractive boot. The toe shape reminds me of the 205 last shape but the overall last feels snugger on my feet, even than the 208 last. I went up half a size just to be sure and the fit is perfect! The colour is very appealing, and its excellent to have Baker's oak bark tanned soles - the best in the business in my experience. The fiddle waist is less worked than my Saxon loafers which were about perfect. On these it looks more like the waist was merely pulled hard over the shank. Nonetheless still a nice job. The leather quality is high but not consistent across the boots which is why I've given 4 stars rather than 5. All in all, however, these are great value for money and a handsome boot.

Beautiful boots. Had to return first pair due to minor defect. Only detectable on the foot. Excess leather caused sagging. Returned and processed in two weeks. Exceptional service given this was start of pandemic and postal services were struggling with increased parcel post. I live in Australia and that’s a very impressive turn around even in normal times. Fit is perfect. I take size 11 and have narrow feet. I have struggled to get a good fit in other brands. Often I need a half size up or down and sometimes end up with a 12 that’s too wide. Since discovering Cheaney couple of Years ago not looked back. Wonderful service both on line and in store. Even made it to the factory on a couple of visits to UK and picked up bargains both times. Superb quality and styles. I have several pairs of boots both formal and casual and shoes as well. Probably enough for a lifetime, but can you ever have enough of something exceptional.
