- £390
Maeve is a modern monk strap apron shoe that exemplifies craftsmanship. Made from Liquorice grain nubuck, it offers a timeless look softer than black. The wide strap fastening with a prominent nickel-tone buckle adds contemporary appeal. Finished with a thick Mirto rubber sole, Maeve ensures practicality with a lightweight feel, making it ideal for daily wear.
Monk shoes are characterised by their lack of a lacing system and instead, are closed by a buckle and strap. Popularised in the mid-2000's and fast-becoming the preferred style of footwear amongst the fashion-forward, the monk shoe is widely accepted as less formal than an Oxford but more so than a Derby. With simple lines and contemporary style, the monk shoe traditionally features either a single or double strap fastening.

Introduced in 1937, the Vibram sole revolutionised mountaineering footwear, greatly enhancing safety and performance. Its success led to widespread adoption across various types of footwear, renowned for their durability, flexibility, and excellent traction. Our Mirto sole features an 8mm through to add to its thickness, raising the overall height to 38mm at the heel, offering a utilitarian look without the heaviness typical of rubber soles.
With proper care, Cheaney shoes & boots will give comfort, value and service over a considerable time. However, if after wear you wish to extend the life of your Cheaney footwear, we are able, because of the quality of the materials used in the original manufacturing process, to offer a sole & heel repair service. With skill and care, our crafts people rebuild the shoes, using genuine components and reconstruct it to its original specifications.
Nubuck is made from the outer layer of leather, which is sanded to create a soft, velvety surface. While it has a similar look and feel to suede, nubuck is slightly more durable due to its stronger grain structure. However, it is still prone to scratches and stains, requiring regular maintenance to keep its appearance. Nubuck offers a refined, versatile look that works well in both casual and semi-formal settings. Although it handles light moisture better than suede, nubuck is not fully water-resistant and benefits from protective treatments to maintain its quality over time.
