Better than the hype

These boots were incredibly comfortable out of the box. They feel slightly large, but I had no issues with breaking them in. No blisters or hot spots, and I ore them daily for 2 weeks while I walked all over London and Paris on holiday. I highly recommend them - they are pricey, but they feel like the kind of footwear that will last a lifetime and still look great.

Great boots, great service from Leeds store.

Look no further than Cheaney for fantastic footwear. The Hurricane II boots are sturdy but beautifully soft at the same time. The last is a nice and wide fitting with lots of toe room. The commando sole is classic and you don’t need to look any further for the best winter boot. The chaps in the Leeds branch are extremely helpful and the store is situated in the beautiful Victoria Quater part of the city centre. Well worth a visit. Thank you. I’m a size ten usually and these were a great fit for me. The whiskey is not quite as red as the photo suggests, just as a guide but check them out in person at the store.

Up to expectations

Spending this much on a pair of boots was a big decision, but after one month I’m very happy with them. The fit is excellent for my feet (true to size for me, but I have large and wide feet so others may want to go half a size down). They look fantastic - the leather is lovely, probably a bit less red than in the photos, but I’m happy with that. The boots are robust without feeling overly heavy. I’ve conditioned them once in the first month, with Cheaney’s recommended conditioner. Worked well at getting the scuffs out and getting the boots looking like new. Really happy with this purchase and I’m glad I now won’t need to think about boot shopping for several years.

Brilliant boots

Tough and comfortable. Really great whiskey colour and kudu leather. These are my seventh pair of Cheaneys. I sized down half a size and the fit is great - space in the toes and solid in the heels. I plan to wear the boots through mud, rain, snow and sand. They feel like they will be able to handle it all. Had them for almost a week now and they have been comfortable from the first wear. Very happy owner of these boots.

Oh my. Bury me in these boots.

I’m trying out various boots for an African adventure - driving from Paris to Mombasa and I wanted boots that had a military feel, be beautifully made and were comfortable out of the box. These do it. And with the kudu leather, the African connection seems to make these so right. I’ve got these Hurricane IIs and the Tiger Moth too. For my adventure I pray that either these may come in a higher boot style (mid calf) or the Tiger Moth comes cooler without the shearling! I can but live in hope. But in any event. Bury me in these!

Excellent shoes, wrong heel.

So these shoes where absolutely fabulous. The leather was unique, supple and the boots had a very nice feel on the foot. I did notice notice that the boot had came with a plain commando heel. Just a block of rubber, not the detailed leather inset version displayed on the images, this was such a shame. I raised this with Cheaney, and credit to them rectified the issue by removing the line from sale and providing a full refund on return, as they didn’t have my size with the correct heel in stock. I understand things do slip through the net, and I am sure this won’t happen again in the future. That being said, I await for a restock so I can repurchase these. 2* may seem unfair, but the inconvenience of the manufacturer error was actually significant given the reason for purchasing the boots.

Outstanding

My first pair of real 'Made in England' boots. The best thing I've ever put on my feet. Sturdy soles, supple leather and they look superb. I'll be wearing these for at least a decade.

Cheaney Hurricane II Kudo leather.

I have worn Cheaney shoes before, I was married in Cheaney shoes, so I am aware of the quality. These Hurricane Boots in Kudo leather are something else. The leather has a lovely, natural grain and the deep, caramel/whiskey colour looks amazing. These boots are fully lined with a rock solid command sole so will be worn through the winter months coming and many years ahead.

Kudu Leather

Kudu is a species of antelope native to the African Savannah. As it is a wild animal, kudu leather is naturally imperfect and has scars and scuffs as a result of life in a wild environment. Incredibly soft to the touch yet just as strong as other leathers, kudu is a fairly low-maintenance leather and creates less wastage than other leathers due to the inclusion of imperfections.
