Small problem

Delivered as promised and you can see the quality. However second time I put them on the leather grip at the back broke, a quick phone call and they were sent back. Two weeks later another pair arrived and have been fine. Only other critism is the laces are to short. I have a wide fitting foot and when I try to do the up the lace wasn't long enough. Ended up buying brown football laces which considering the price seems ridiculous! Having said all that they really are a great pair of boots and often commented on.

Fiennes boot

Surprised how comfortable on first time wearing. Already have Cairngorm Veldtschoen shoe that took some breaking in. The leather seems lighter than expected and the unlined tongue very soft, hope it it will be as durable as the heavier shoe.

Great Boots

I now have one pair of Cheaney shoes and two pairs of boots so this gives you a clue to my feelings on Cheaney quality. I constantly look at other manufacturers but I haven't found any better. I had expected a quality boot and sure enough that's exactly what I received - they are much better than the photos would have you believe and the colour is great!

Best boots

I purchased these boots last year. They are without doubt one of the finest things I own. Yes, took a little while to break in, but I polished them every day with Cheaney polish and wore them for half days at the time. Now they are so comfortable. I've walked miles in them. The colour and patina on the leather is sublime. I get so many compliments about them. Worth every penny and can't wait for Winter to start!

Nice but flawed

Good: these are very comfortable around the foot.

Very sturdy, great laces.

Bad: it's better not to do the boot completely up - the wrinkles the cushioning at the top.

The pull tab at the back of the boot is flawed - it is stitched to the back of the boot, perforating it and compromising the strength of the tab. The colouring is nice but it appears to be thin and has a synthetic quality once worn. Seem expensive.

Veldtschoen Construction
Veldtschoen Construction

A Veldtschoen shoe contains the same components as a Goodyear welted shoe. However the leather upper is turned out and stitched above the welt rather than the leather upper being wrapped underneath and stitched beneath the welt. This construction method provides more water resistance.

Commando Rubber Sole
Commando Rubber Sole

Adopted by the British Army in the 1940's the Commando Sole is highly resistant to wear and tremendous non-slip capacity. Made by Itshide the cleated design and centre star medallions provide great traction and cushioning. Perfect sole for the great outdoors, shock absorbing properties allows exploring the most rugged of terrains less challenging.

SOLE GUIDE

Calf Leather

Calf leather forms the foundation of a large majority of our styles due to its classic appeal, hardwearing nature and adaptability. Our signature leathers are sourced from tanneries within Europe. Burnishing refers to slightly darker shades being applied to the shoe, specifically around the toes and heels - meticulously done by hand in our factory, burnishing gives each shoe personality and shows off the leather beautifully.
