Barry has been in the shoe business for over 40 years. Starting on the factory floor of an established women’s footwear company, he progressed to the role of Pattern Cutter and then Shoe Designer. After 10 years he noted that the women’s footwear market was shifting away from U.K manufacturing and Barry moved to focus predominantly on the menswear market, which ultimately lead to him joining Cheaney 22 years ago.

Barry is passionate about the traditional British Heritage of manufacturing shoes in England. He still uses his design skills by working alongside our Pattern Room, selecting different leathers, colour options and lasts to re-vitalise existing patterns, which then become a small range of exclusive designs for the Factory Shop. Barry’s experience with the manufacturing of shoes gives him exceptional product knowledge to help and advise his customers. He states, “Luckily most of our loyal customers are as passionate about Cheaney Footwear as I am. I love talking about the industry, explaining the traditional process of Goodyear welted footwear and the benefits of investing in the quality and fit of Cheaney Shoes. I have always bought good quality footwear and own more pairs of shoes than shirts!”
