The Eco Aware Collection strips back the number of solvents and chemicals used within the standard manufacturing process for leather-based footwear. From the repairable rubber soles, to cork bottom fillers, to selecting local raw materials from C F Steads, whose tannage is metal and chrome-free, components have been assessed and altered where possible to allow for a more ecologically sound product. The traditional process of Goodyear welt construction is utilised in our Eco-Aware collection, allowing for the shoes to be fully refurbished multiple times within their lifespan, resulting in a product that has profound longevity. Lastly, reclaimed packaging in the form of cotton bags and 100% recyclable boxes have been selected to package the footwear.
As a company, Joseph Cheaney & Sons has been committed to producing premium, inherently sustainable footwear fully manufactured within our Northamptonshire factory since 1886. Our ethos has always centered around creating functional and performance-driven collections that don’t compromise on style or comfort. But we wanted to do more.
