The Derby, also known as a Gibson, is considered a little more casual than an Oxford or classic Brogue. That being said, the style is extremely versatile, with Derby's often being paired with suits, chinos or jeans, making them a multifunctional investment piece. They are described as having an open lacing system and, as such, are suitable for a wide foot or a foot with a high in-step.
The 12508 has become a Cheaney classic since its introduction in 2009. Acting as the foundation for a variety of styles the 12508 is wonderfully versatile update on the classic 4436. This last has a real presence on the foot with a generous, rounded toe.

All of our leather soles are made from strongly tanned premium quality hides, cut to shape. A groove is constructed into the sole to house the sole stitching. Then each shoe is individually trimmed, stained, polished and stamped to finish.
With proper care, Cheaney shoes will give comfort, value and service over a considerable time. However, if after wear you wish to extend the life of your Cheaney shoes, we are able, because of the quality of the materials used in the original manufacturing process, to offer a full refurbishment service.
