Monk shoes are characterised by their lack of a lacing system and instead, are closed by a buckle and strap. Popularised in the mid-2000's and fast-becoming the preferred style of footwear amongst the fashion-forward, the monk shoe is widely accepted as less formal than an Oxford but more so than a Derby. With simple lines and contemporary style, the monk shoe traditionally features either a single or double strap fastening.
Developed in 2010, the 205 last boasts a slim, sleek profile, perfect for formal occasions and professional wear. A contemporary shape with a more exaggerated, chiselled toe, this last is closer fitting to the foot for a comfortable, supporting fit. Slightly deeper over the instep and through the vamp area, with generous spacing in the toe box, the 205 offers an elegant, minimalistic shape.

All of our leather soles are made from strongly tanned premium quality hides, cut to shape. A groove is constructed into the sole to house the sole stitching. Then each shoe is individually trimmed, stained, polished and stamped to finish.
With proper care, Cheaney shoes will give comfort, value and service over a considerable time. However, if after wear you wish to extend the life of your Cheaney shoes, we are able, because of the quality of the materials used in the original manufacturing process, to offer a full refurbishment service.
